Pour son deuxième match de championnat, les Rapaces recevaient les Tigers de Thoune à Chavannes-près-Renens.
Une météo plus que radieuse augurait une journée pleine de passion et d’adrénaline. Les Tigers ayant gagné le coin toss, ils choisirent de garder l’option pour la 2ème mi-temps, laissant ainsi les Lausannois recevoir le cuir pour le début du match. Le premier drive lausannois démarra au quart de tour et vit la formation noir et sang imposer son rythme et parvenir assez rapidement dans la red zone adverse. Les espoirs des locaux furent toutefois déçus, suite à une interception malheureuse dans la end zone. La défense prit alors le relai et tâcha de mettre la pression sur l’escouade offensive bernoise. Les Rapaces s’en acquittèrent avec tellement de soin, que le drive bernois s’acheva prématurément après 3 downs. L’offense profita du drive suivant pour débloquer le compteur sur une course de Daniele Genovese, le PAT étant ensuite réussi.
Les deux escouades s’observèrent ensuite jusqu’au 2 ème quart, où une action a priori ratée vit David Maillard ramasser le cuir pour ensuite éviter 2 défenseurs et porter ballon dans la end zone adverse. Une transformation non réussie mena à un score de 13-00 à la mi-temps. Si la 2ème partie de la rencontre commença d’une meilleure façon que la semaine précédente, plusieurs erreurs furent à l’origine de l’annulation de plusieurs first downs, ainsi que d’un touchdown. Profitant de ces largesses, les Bernois se retrouvèrent dans la red zone lausannoise et concrétisèrent cette opportunité par un touchdown, la transformation étant ratée. Les Rapaces se montrèrent plus déterminés dans le 4ème quart, composant tant bien que mal avec les multiples pénalités. Dans les deux dernières minutes, Stéphane Huber fit s’affoler les cœurs des spectateurs en rattrapant une longue passe de Christophe Bezuchet, mais en perdant malheureusement le contrôle du cuir en tombant dans la end zone. Cette 2ème victoire conforta les Rapaces dans leur bonne forme du moment et la pause pascale sera l’occasion de reposer les corps meurtris. Petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid. Rendez-vous est pris avec vous pour la journée du 1er mai à 14h, pour le match opposant le LUC aux Lions de Lucerne à Lucerne.
For their second game of the season, the Owls were hosting the Thun Tigers at Chavannes-près-Renens.
A weather nice and shinny was announcing a day full of passion and excitement. The Tigers won the coin toss, and decided to keep the second half option. So the Owls received the pigskin for the first kickoff.
The first quarter saw the LUC start nicely, imposing their tempo, and getting quickly to the Tigers redzone. Sadly, their hopes were cut short by an interception in the end zone. The defense then took over and tried to pressure the Tigers. The Owls did it so well that the drive ended prematurely after 3 downs. The offense took advantage of the next drive to get on the board after a run by Daniele Genovese, the PAT being successful.
The two squads then neutralized each other until 2nd quarter, when an almost ruined play saw David Maillard pick up the fumbled pigskin and run into the end zone after avoiding two defenders. An unsuccessful transformation led to a score of 13-00 at halftime. Although the second half began in a better way than the previous week, several errors caused the cancellation of several first downs, and of a touchdown. Taking advantage of these mistakes, the Tigers found themselves in the red zone, and displayed some power in order to score a touchdown, the conversion being missed. As always, the Owls grew more determined in the fourth quarter, despite many hampering penalties. In the last two minutes, Stephan Huber had the spectators panicking, catching a long pass from Christophe Bezuchet, but unfortunately losing control of the ball as he was falling into the end zone. This second victory confirms the Owls in their good form at the time, and the Easter break will be an opportunity to rest the bruised bodies. Little by little the bird builds its nest. The next game will see the LUC confronted to the Lucern Lions on May 1rst at 2:00 pm in Lucerne.
